The WA Residential Battery Scheme is a Western Australian Government program that helps households buy and install a home battery. It offers a one-off battery rebate and/or a no-interest loan, so a battery can cost less up front and be easier to pay off.
The scheme sits alongside the Federal Government's Cheaper Home Batteries Program, so eligible households may be able to access both a federal subsidy and the WA battery rebate.
As an accredited vendor, Captain Green Solar can quote your system, manage your WA battery rebate application and guide you through the no-interest loan process with Plenti.
Three ways to bring the upfront cost of your home battery down.
*Rebate and loan eligibility, amounts and availability are set by the WA Government and Plenti and may change. Loan approval is subject to Plenti's criteria. Federal subsidy rates reduce at set intervals during the program.
Only vendors listed in the Plenti vendor directory can supply and install batteries under the scheme. We're on that list.
We submit your WA battery rebate application on your behalf, and manage your Federal battery subsidy application too.
We quote batteries and inverters on the Synergy or Horizon Power supported lists that are VPP capable, so your system qualifies.
We make sure your battery and inverter suit your home, your solar system and your energy use.
See your price after the rebate and federal subsidy, with no surprises. We'll also try to beat or match a lower qualified quote.
Our head office is at 9 Lithic Way, Wangara, backed by a team that has been installing solar across Australia since 2010.
To qualify for the WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate, you'll generally need an approved battery, an accredited installer, VPP participation and an upfront-discount purchase through your vendor.
For the no-interest loan, your household's combined annual income must be under $210,000 and you'll be contacted by Plenti to complete the loan process.
Not sure if you qualify? Our team will check your eligibility for free when you request a quote.
Tell us about your home, your electricity retailer and whether you already have solar.
We recommend an approved, VPP-capable battery that suits your household.
Review your quote with the WA rebate and federal subsidy included.
We lodge your WA Residential Battery Scheme rebate application for you.
If you apply for the no-interest loan, Plenti will contact you to finalise it.
We install your battery, and you join your retailer's VPP.
A Virtual Power Plant, or VPP, connects household solar panels, batteries and other energy resources so their stored power can support the wider electricity grid. Joining a VPP is a requirement of the WA Residential Battery Scheme.
Home batteries store electricity when it's cheap and plentiful, and discharge it when the grid is busy and power is more expensive.
Horizon Power customers receive a higher rebate because energy and installation costs are higher in remote regions.

The WA Residential Battery Scheme is a Western Australian Government initiative administered with Plenti Finance. Rebate amounts, loan terms, eligibility criteria and availability are determined by the scheme and are subject to change. Maximum rebates are based on a usable battery capacity of 10 kWh. No-interest loans are subject to approval, available to households with a combined annual income under $210,000, and require VPP participation. Federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program subsidy amounts depend on battery size and reduce over the life of the program. Captain Green Solar is accredited by Plenti Finance as a vendor under the scheme. Not financial advice. For full details visit wa.gov.au.
